  • lancets
  • broken glass items, such as ampoules or vials

A sharps bin should be provided to allow the safe disposal of the above items

Recommended for women following vaginal reconstruction surgery or following pelvic radiotherapy when recommended by an appropriate Secondary Care Specialist. (Local supply recommendation – GP to prescribe on recommendation of the Specialist).

Viscose garments for atopic eczema (CliniFast®, Comfifast Easywrap®)

Formulary

Used for chronic widespread eczema and lichenified skin where intense topical treatment is needed and/or protection from trauma due to scratching, where bandaging of other types is not appropriate. Not suitable for use on infected eczema.

Improvement in skin condition and ongoing need for garments should be regularly reviewed by the specialist.

Preferred brands: CliniFast®, Comfifast Easywrap®

Garments can be machine washed up to 30 times

NB: Skinnies Viscose® and Tubifast 2-way stretch are non-formulary (higher cost) unless the required garment is not available in the preferred brand ranges.

Specialist to initiate and stabilise medicine prior to continuation in Primary Care
To be prescribed as per Shared Care Guidance. If no SCG in place status reverts to red.
Red medicines are designated as specialist only medicines which should only be prescribed by a specialist, usually within secondary care (either due to the requirement for specialist knowledge, long-term monitoring requirements, or restrictions that mean medicine supplies are only available to hospitals).
A decision has been made either locally and/or nationally not to routinely commission this preparation. Do not prescribe.
To be purchased over the counter. May be prescribed for chronic, long term conditions or on admission to hospital if essential.
